Yesterday I asked that we pray for President Obama's family's salvation. Today, I'd like to ask that we pray also for the many other leaders in our government, (cabinet, senators, congressmen, govorners, etc... even down to local mayors and city councils) and others who President Obama associates with (Jeremiah Wright, Bill Aires, etc.) to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ as well. I believe that God can use the prayers of His people, and our president's salvation that results, as a powerful testimony that will spread revival across this great nation.
Another thought somewhat related to the previous one:
Over the past couple of days, it has occured to me that quite possibly a big part of the reason why God allowed Barack Obama to become president of the United States of America was simply so that we would pray for him, and because God planned to work through his office of president to draw President Obama to a saving faith and surrender to Jesus Christ.

Pray for Our President Week - Day 5
As we pray for President Obama's salvation this week, let's not forget to pray for his family's salvation as well. And let's praise the Lord in advance for what He is going to do and quite possibly is already doing!

Pray for Our President Week - Day 4
Today's post is pretty much a follow-up of yesterday's. The Lord laid it on my heart during my church's Pray for Our President Week prayer meeting last night to post this explanation.
We have to realize that the battle for our president's soul (or that of any unsaved person) is, as the passage in Ephesians 6 points out, not one against flesh and blood, but against satan himself. This does not leave President Obama innocent in the eyes of God, because he still chooses his actions, (if it did leave him innocent, we would have no reason to pray for his salvation.) but it does mean that we have to be prepared for the attacks of satan.
The enemy is not going to ignore the people of God across this nation joining together with one common purpose and goal of prayer for one man's salvation. He is not going to take lightly the salvation of the most influential man in the United States of America. Satan knows perfectly well how powerfully God can and will work through the prayers of His people. He is going to attack and attempt to destroy our effort in whatever way he can. I've seen his attack in my own life - I can't ever remember a time when I got so angry so easily as I have been this week - and I'm sure I'm not the only one who can attest to that.
This is why we are called to put our trust in the armor of God, because He alone can destroy the fiery darts of satan. When the devil attacks our efforts to do the will of God, especially this week as we are committed to praying for President Barack Obama's salvation, we cannot allow him to stop us. Instead, we must focus our attention even more on "praying without ceasing," because the God we serve is infinitely more powerful than the enemy who seeks to defeat us. Jesus Christ alone can preserve our lives and our faith in Him, and He alone can redeem the president of the United States. Thank You Jesus!

Pray for Our President Week -Day 3
FINALLY, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with Truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
And take the helmet of Salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
WITH ALL PRAYER AND PETITION, PRAY AT ALL TIMES IN THE SPIRIT, AND WITH THIS IN VIEW, BE ON THE ALERT WITH ALL PERSEVERANCE AND PETITION FOR ALL THE SAINTS.

Pray for Our President Week - Day 2
Sorry the post is so late tonight...
I'm so excited to see what the Lord is going to do through our prayers this week!
Here's something specific that the Lord has laid on my heart to pray for, especially during my church's PFOPW prayer meeting tonight:
Romans 10:14 says, "How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?"
Although there are many stories of people coming to Christ simply through reading the Bible, most often God brings the message of Salvation through the witness of one of His servants. I believe that God is preparing someone - or some ones - to confront President Obama with the Law of God, and share the Gospel of forgiveness through Jesus Christ with him.
Any Christian who has shared their faith before (or tried to) realizes that speaking up with the message of Salvation is not easy in any case. Satan tries to attack wherever he can. How much more intimidating is it when it comes to witnessing to someone who is antagonistic toward the Word of God, and even more, if that person happens to be president of the United States.
For this reason, as we pray this week for President Obama to surrender his life to Jesus Christ, I believe that we also need to pray for the person or people who God is preparing to lead him to Christ.
Pray that God would give him/her/them courage to step far out of their comfort zones and put their trust totally in God, that God would show them the opportunities He gives them, and that He would put His words in their mouths.

I was found by those who did not seek Me.""
Here is an exciting note to kick off the week with. Many times over the past weeks, my sister has shared this amazing story of how God spoke to her heart about Pray for Our President Week, and I have her permission to share it with you. The following passage is a portion of a post from her blog:
"I was sought by those who did not ask;
I was found by those who did not seek Me."
The Lord was telling me, "Your president is not seeking Me, but I am seeking Him." The verse goes on:
"I said: Here I am, here I am, to the nation that was not called by My name."
He told me, "America is not calling to me, but I am calling America. I will reveal myself.

National Day of Prayer
National Day of Prayer is tomorrow! (May 7) That means two things:
1. PLEASE, all of you, join together in prayer on this day to pray for our nation. Don't use Pray for Our President Week as an excuse. God's Word tells us to "pray without ceasing," and any chance we can get to gather the nation together in Jesus' name can be miraculous!
2. Pray for Our President Week is exactly one month away. I'm asking all of you to please help spread the word, and begin planning prayer meetings in your churches, small groups, and Christian organizations. And above all, even though pray for our president week isn't here yet, please use this time leading up to the event to pray that God will move powerfully through His people's prayer during that second week in June.

Why "Pray for Our President Week"?
One remnant of our history as a Christian nation that we as Americans have left is the National Day of Prayer. I highly encourage you to use that day for what it is meant for: gathering together with other believers to pray for our nation.
But surely it is obvious that, especially in the state our nation is in right now, we need a lot more than just one day set aside for prayer. We cannot pour our hearts out to God one day and forget about our need for His mercy the next. Prayer is going to have to become a way of life for us. We have to begin somewhere, and I suggest that we begin by joining together as servants of Jesus Christ to dedicate one week to gathering together in humble, earnest prayer to pray that President Barack Obama surrenders his life to Jesus Christ. Yes, you read that right.
I realize that it is easy to look at the policies and executive orders this president has made, and consider him hopeless. How does God see him? As a sinner, guilty of breaking God's entire Law, and deserving of eternal punishment in hell: exactly the same as He sees every single other person who attempts to stand in his own strength. But "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. " (2 Peter 3:9)
There is hope for President Barack Obama if we, as the people of God, will humble ourselves, and pray for him, and seek God's face.
I believe that this is where revival in the United States of America can begin: with Christians around the nation gathering together in their churches, homes, small groups, Christian organizations, concerts, or wherever they are, and devoting themselves for an entire week to pleading for the salvation of our president.

The Basis of "Pray for Our President Week"
The nation in which we live today is in a desperate situation. No one denies that. Some would agree with this by pointing to the financial crisis. Others would point to our freedoms, once taken for granted, which are now quickly disappearing. I beg to present one more option.
The financial crisis and loss of freedoms are both side effects of a much greater issue. The United States of America has turned its back on its previous claim to being "One Nation Under God." Our current president is making every effort to keep Christianity far from himself and from the public scene.
We as a nation are living in sin, and just like the Israelites of the Old Testament, we have found ourselves in the hand of God's wrath. Still, there is hope, because we serve a God of mercy. Remember the promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14-15, " If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place."

Name Change
Oops! I have been reminded that respect for the office of President of the United States mandates referring to the president as such, not just by his name. Big time faux paus! In an effort to remedy this error, I am changing the name of this project from "Pray for Obama Week" to "Pray for Our President Week." I'm sorry for the mistake, and I'm sorry for any confusion the name change might cause. Praise God that He uses us despite our mistakes!
